The journey of a Cortina hide begins at one of the Cortina tanneries in the northern Italian foothills of the Dolomites. Tanning in this region of northern Italy began over 200 years ago. Each Cortina tannery specializes in a particular type of leather, such as calf or suede, with an average total output of 300,000 square feet of leather daily. Each hide is individually inspected by fully-trained Cortina staff at the tannery, and marked with the company's unique stamp of approval.
